Akira, le père de la famille Asada est très attaché à la photographie pour immortaliser ses deux fils Yukihiro, l’aînée et Masashi à l’occasion de la carte de vœux. Une année, Akira offre son appareil photo au petit dernier. Ainsi né la vocation de Masahi à devenir photographe professionnel. Fier de ce coup de pouce, il veut témoigner une reconnaissance à sa famille à travers une photo mettant en scène son père, sa mère et son grand frère. Même si Yukihiro ne peut avouer frontalement avec la culture japonaise que cette séance photo, l’insupporte. La jeune Wakana est éblouie par Masahi qui espère deviendra un photographe de renommé internationale. Comment va-t-il se démarquer ?

« La Famille Asada » inspirée d’une histoire vraie, retrace les espoirs, les doutes d’un jeune photographe qui se cherche une originalité singulière. On découvre que sa famille n’est pas loin dans son cheminement. Il va trouver une astuce pour ne pas sans détacher complètement. Le tsunami du 11 mai 2011 sur la côte Pacifique du Töhoku va prendre un sens dans son parcours de photographe. Pendant deux heures on est émerveillé par ce récit qui nous fait explorer la culture japonaise, non dénuée d’humour.
